About

Hi there! I’m Andrew, and I’m just another human (bean), trying to live life as a second generation Asian American, trying to follow Jesus. I believe that it’s both possible and important to express Christianity through a uniquely Asian American lens. I want to share stories and perspectives from my Christian life while embracing and learning more about my Asian American identity and the cultural narrative of my family roots.

AAAC (An Asian American Christian) is an online collection of writings, reflections, links, and perhaps encouragement for the average Asian American Christian out there. I want to be as honest and forthright (read: unpolished) as I can be, so that others can also feel free in their lives.

I’ve gone through multiple iterations of this blog, but have landed on the desire to keep writing openly on what it means to be Asian American and Christian. If you’re visiting, you by no means have to identify the same (Asian American, or even Christian). Just know that that’s where I’ll be starting from! If you’d like to join along the journey of bi-monthly (ish) posts, feel free to sign up for the newsletter.

Some fun facts about me:

  • I love chowing down on Greek yogurt, carrot sticks, and finding new snacks to try at Grocery Outlet
  • I have a stash of about a dozen and a half written journals under my bed, spanning back to middle school
  • I speak Mandarin at about a 5th grade conversational level

  • I once joined a footbagging (hackysack) club in college and also learned how to beatbox on the flute (but no longer own a flute, sad)
  • I identify most with the Enneagram Type 9. I’m a huge, self-declared “aptly social” introvert
  • My favorite bible verse is 1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.”
  • I’m married to the funniest, kindest, strongest woman in the world. Her name is Eve 🙂
